The Kegley Institute of Ethics invites you to a session hosted by Philosophy for Children.

Philosophy for Children (P4C) programming offers open-ended conversations on philosophical questions and ideas that children and adults encounter and ponder in their

P4C Session

daily lives. 

With the help of skilled facilitators from the CSUB P4C Program, as well as popular children's books, children (ages 7-12) discuss age-appropriate stories and participate in activities that spark curiousity and encourage critical thinking.

KIE Civil Disagreement Pedagogy Workshop

Are you interested in honing students' skills to engage each other across lines of difference? 

The Kegley Institute of Ethics invites all instructional faculty to explore pedagogical strategies that foster dialogue in the classroom. Drawing from the Intercollegiate Civil Disagreement Partnership's approach, participants will practice framing dialogic questions, managing difficult conversations through facilitation techniques, and cultivating spaces where understanding, rather than debate, guides discussion. Instructors will be provided with tools to help students examine values, navigate divisive topics, and sustain engaged conversation across political, cultural, and ideological divides. Preference will be given to faculty who teach General Education courses.

Please join the Kegley Institute of Ethics on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 6pm in the Doré Theatre for the 21st Annual Kegley Institute of Ethics Fall Lecture, featuring Tony Award-winning actor and acclaimed activist BD Wong.

In his lecture, titled "From Exclusion to Inclusion," BD will discuss his career—from his Tony Award-winning role in M. Butterfly to his well-known characters in Law & Order SVU and Jurassic World—and how his experiences as an openly gay Asian American actor have shaped his career and informed his ongoing advocacy work.
